It might work well on 4S or 5S on the CS fan, there is a good thread here which will give you an idea of the kv / cell count combinations.

This motor is 250% heavier as the mega 16/15/3 which performs fine at 4s. I wouldn't be suprised if 6s or more would work. if you run at 4s you will have a major weight penalty in your drive system!

It's for a 6s setup in a 3-6 bladed fan. The added weight is a benefit in it's mass and ability to shed heat.
Yes, your an "energy star" EDF'r eric, but some folks want 1900+w. (with 5-6+ lbs thrust)
The 61.5 mm long MEGAs and the HET 1W-40's are being used there as well.

Long can, low kv motors are being used by the CS guys. so the rotor doesn't burn up the motor. at lower power levels (<1300w)

why do you think we offer different motors?
2900/ 2950 kv are for 6 S
3200 kv are for 5 S
and the lower S the more amps for the same thrust, and the less efficiency due to heat loss.

I got a little over 5.5lbs of thrust with this setup, this will take 65c packs all day and not break a sweat

199A! Wow! Were you able to check the motor temp after the fact? Was the Cool 42 in fact still cool?

That isn't the half of it! Did you see the watts? I never have trusted CC's data recording to be all that accurate. The motor lasted in the setup untill I put it in a eflite f-86, maiden takeoff and 1/4 lap then poof! Went around the field one and a half laps to slow down to land though! Thats with the stock gear hanging!

Agreed. I'm gonna guess +/-20%, and Castle doesn't even guarantee that it's supposed to be accurate anyways. I find that they generally over-read.

That being said, even if you're 25% over, that's still over 150A!

~7lbs of thrust at 140 amps with 2950kv motor from EDFHobbies

CS 10 blade rotor, EDFHobbies 2950kv motor, 6s, 3000watts 7lbs of thrust (2 min 17 sec)

Motor wasn't properly heat sunk to shroud or can sink...

With proper heat sink magnets will like watts way more
