Syma S105 Battery Mod

Here's one way to mod the Syma battery to use the E-Flite/Parkzone style battery.

  • Take the charging circuit from the stock Syma s107s.
  • Solder on a mini/pico/parkzone adapter You can glue down to secure the connector even more. I used medium CA.
  • Solder on a couple of legs from LED to reach the positive and negative terminal. Creative bending and extra solder at right angle corners help add strength.

I put a piece of foam in the battery tray to have a flat surface, from which you can use fiberglass carpet tape as I have. Or velcro as you see fit. The battery actually get's secured up against the plug because the canopy pushes up on it from the rear. You can get creative here if you'd like.

I hope this inspires your own ideas. Definitely share if you have any. I already have a second version that let's you slide the battery in at a diagonal with the board and plug towards the nose of the heli. This requires cutting a slot in your battery tray to securely hold the battery charging circuit board at the right angle. Some people might prefer that orientation better. When I get a chance, I'll mod my second heli this way as proof of concept.

With the battery interface neatly stowed behind the canopy where it belongs, how does one easily get inside?

Stay tune... See this post here:

Nice and neat mod, I love how this has evolved from the socket on a wire my first removable mod had.

I had a similar idea for removable canopy, I was thinking the other way around though...

Putting the screw into the white part then snipping off the head to leave just a peg for the holes in the canopy to locate over.

Had an idea that may make your screw in the canopy version slightly easier, using a sequin to hold the screw in place, real easy to get hold of their round and have a nice lil hole in the middle

This was posted on the S107 thread a while back. Had a person inquired about it via YouTube recently. Took me a while to find my original post. That's why i posted on my blog. For easier reference in the future.

My first prototype had half the post cut. This second version retains the stock look.

Your idea is a good one. However, a little piece of scrap plastic means that anyone can mod without hitting up the store first. Always the goal if possible for my mods. Cuz nothing worst than having to buy stuff to mod....especially in the middle of the night.

Sequins are always easy to find if there is a female in the house, it almost like they grow under furniture like some kind of sparkly little mushrooms.

I'm all for usInt what's around rather than buying things no matter how cheap.

Nice mod...I still have to replace my stock 107G battery, had so much fun with it the poor thing just died.

What were / are your flight times with the 100 mAh?
