The specs are already out on Sonys website http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/sto...specifications

They offer a Wifi version for $269.

The good: 1280x720 at 120fps is going to make any video slowed 4 times to 30fps look butter smooth. 3 axis stabilization also compensates for roll.

The bad: 170 FOV is going to make any aerial video look distorted, no 1080p at 60fps only 30fps. And still photos are only 1920x1080.

The best part is that Sony being a major player means GoPro really needs to step up there game to stay ahead.

well as i see it; Sony might be catching GoPro, but Gopro are still ahead atm. though i guess it depends how much you use 720 video or the 11.8MP camera on the Gopro (the sony is a 2MP)

Looks good so far, I like the 120FPS and steadycam. Im still waiting to see raw video from an independent source.

looks very promising, especially the 120 fps and built in stab, curious though how the stab looks from an aerial platform, but I see no reason why it should be any different than riding a bike etc..

Don't be so quick to jump on the image stabilization........

That is made to compensate and dampen rather large, gross motions rather than the fine vibratory movement we encounter in our aircraft. You'll still get jello and annoying jaggies if you don't isolate it.

And ditto the still images and the 170 FOV - 2MP ain't squat when it comes to aerials and the fisheye effect doesn't do much for large area images.

Oh yeah.... and it doesn't say whether it will do a video out while recording either. Remember the hacks and how long it took GoPro to "get it"?

Yes, curious to see how the IS works in the air, on my big plane though it would mimic ground usage more I think, my quads though, will be a different story.

I'd sooner have a 120 FOV, for stills I have my Canon P&S with CHDK and video , I'm not that concerned with video out as I prefer a small separate FPV cam anyway.

Who know what this one will be like but people have had success using image stabilization on the Sony NEX cameras, it does help.

The HDR-AS15 specs has the "SteadyShot" feature and the HDR-AS10 specs do not.

The only difference between the two is Wifi.

I agree. I was looking at the "overview" pages on the Sony site where the '10 does not highlight SteadyShot as the '16 does. But it is in the "Specifications" page.

Oops.
