Question

3D parkflyer plans

Hi,

I would like to apologize for my bad English first. I'm not English speaking, and am living in English speaking country for only one year.

I have already bought and flown a ready-to-fly plane for few weeks now. It was a cheap plane, and I'm looking for something that could do basic acrobatics like loops & rolls, but still be stable in the air, and easy to control, and hopefully give long performance (15-30 min). I was given many advices, but due to shortage of money those weren't satisfying for me. I want to ask if anybody has or know link to high quality free plans, with step by step directions, recommended part to buy(servos, radio, etc) and drawing of each separate part, of a plane that can be built for $100-150. I would prefer a balsa plane, but foam would be acceptable too.

First off welcome to ezone.

There are allot of good planes out there that can be built for cheap. The best that I have found is the 3DX. The planes are free from this website. It is foam though.

You can find lots of info for it here

A new plane that would be good is the Southern X2.

Here is a link to a guy building one. It is also Foam.

As for balsa I could not tell you. There are a bunch of great kits out there for 3D. But they all cost money.

Also did you know that there is a great Electric Club near you in Burnaby. You should look into that place. You can get allot of good help there.

Thank you for the links, but balsa planes would be more suitable, because all the kinds of foam that I have seen in my life are beeing folded easily. I have never actually seen balsa but scince it's a sort of wood, I think it is stronger.

P.S. Gonzo007, could you be more specific on Electric Club?

Get ahold of AZ Chuck and try a Hissy-Fit: http://www.azchuckrc.net/undone.html
Or, Build a Tiny: http://www.rcmicroflight.com/plans/tiny/index.asp

There's some others out there, just keep looking, but both of these are very easy builds and very fun little planes.

Tiny looks like a good plane to built.

Which one is more expensive balsa or foam?

For now it looks like Yak 54 will be the best for me. But something like slow stick would be nicer, do you know where I can get a plan to a plane like that?

AZ Chuck's PFC flies very similarly to a SlowStick, only a lot smaller and slower. It'd be a fantastic model as a first scratch-built. (it was mine) It works real well with a cut down wing to 24", too. You may want to study his plans and scale them up to SlowStick size. Should be easy enough.

If you want foam, get some Fan Fold BluCor. You might try an And_Now or a BluStik. Several guys have scaled up the BluStik similarly to the SlowStick, as well.

How much would it cost to make PFC (including cost of radio, tools, balsa, and everything else I will need to buy. Right now I don't have anything that I could use)

I've just received first issue of Fly RC. IFO planes really impressed me. It also is cheap enough. Which one do you think I should chose Mini or M3 IFO?
