I got my Bluelight BL-3GRC Gyro today and am trying to get it connected. I understand the connections with the exception of the power. I'm not sure how it would hook to my RX in my P51. Here is some pictures that might help. I'm just not getting how I need to connect my current(ESC) connection to the gyro to give it power? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Port 1. on the gyro goes to the Elevator/Pitch in on the RX Port 3. on the gyro goes to the Ailerons/Roll in on the RX Port 5. on the gyro goes to the Rudder/Yaw in on the RX So where does the power/ESC connect? How do I get power to the gyro? |

No. You wait for it to be windy to give it a fly. That's the whole point.
Had mine out today in gusty winds up to 35km/hr (20 mph) in the old test bed Bixler with wheels. Take off and landing was perfectly easy even for a klutz like me - no way I could do this without it and enjoy it. It's a nice complement to my Guardian. They do different jobs. This is a very professional and configurable 3 axis damper. Nice piece of work. |

Sorry, that might not have been entirely clear. I have both - but in different planes. Both planes happen to be pretty similar. At the moment the Blue Light is in a Bixler, the Guardian in an EasyStarII. Both work great.
I was just making the point that they are optimised for slightly different things but with a lot of overlap. IMO the Blue Light gives you all the control you might ever possibly need over a 3 axis gyro but that's all, the Guardian is stronger as a fit-and-go stabilizer. The 2D levelling mode of the Guardian is limiting if you want maximum control of the aircraft but excellent as an on-board "copilot" and panic button. The current Blue Light can't do that. However, even in 3D mode the Guardian is not as tuneable as the Blue Light. They are both extremely well thought out, high quality items - unlike a lot of the cheap stabilizers that are appearing. The HK Orange in particular is going to wreck a few models. You are correct that the Blue Light Pro will be more like the Guardian but I would think be even more attractive for those who want maximum configurability. All 3 will have their own advantages. Did the upgrade on both firmware and software and the chatter seems to have all but gone. The ailerons seem to be very responsive but I see little movement from the elevator and rudder. Not near as obvious as the aileron response. Also, when I plug the USB cable in, after a few seconds, I get a content twitch from the rudder. A signal about every 1 second moves the rudder.

I have two Gardians, One BlueLight BL3G, and one "Orange" that is more like a lemon, even if it only cost 15 bucks. The "Orange" is not installed in anything and will not be unless the "pot" issue is fixed. I will be ordering at least one more Blue Light in the future. The BL3G will have a library of configurations that you can download. Right now there are only a few available but I would imagine that after people start using it they will send in their configs and the library will grow. Why not ALWAYS use the high-power setup?
The only disadvantage I can see is that it needs an extra male-to-male servo lead i.e. five instead of four of them. This would seem to be more than offset by a gain in safety. Am I missing anything? |

Great if the gyro can automatically save the trim settings - with the BL-3GRC YOU CAN just pick up any RC transmitter and set all trims to zero I like to fly fast but want good stability during slow landings with flaps or flaperons - with the BL-3GRC YOU CAN set real time two gain switch for fast / slow flying I am a bit of a novice and only have a small area to fly in, would be good to find a way to keep the turns tight and stop flying away so far. I'm still a bit nervous about using the rudder myself, would be good if some rudder could be applied during my turns - with the BL-3GRC YOU CAN I have a foamie flying wing aircraft would be good to hide a controller inside the wing - with the BL-3GMod YOU CAN. The MOD version is a small 35mm square, thin PCB, you can cut off or de-solder the pins, connect (solder) only the inputs and outputs you want, and have a flying wing with controller/flaperon function/gyro buried inside. Such a low price too, talk about a game changer!
