Not shown, but on the building table is a 70 yellow and red 3DHS Velox...and I also have a NIB 58" red Edge....

SteveT
The 70" Velox is a fine addition to a well stocked hangar. How does the Velox fly?

Don't know how the 70" flies yet as I am just now in the process of building it. However, I have flown the 68" and it flies great. I can only imagine that the 70" flies even better or I don't think Ben/Scott Stoops/3DHS would have taken the time to come out with the new version.....

Steve,

Nice collection. Is that an orange 59" Slick I see. I am just about ready to pull the trigger on one since they are on such a good price. What do you think of it? I have a 48" Edge that I really like but want something a little less floaty.

Thanks.

Nope, the big orange one is an 89" , the one in the foreground (behind the 74" Edge) is a 71", there is a red 59" Standing in the right corner, and an orange 51" NIB in my shop that is third in line after a Vyper Bipe and a 58" Edge....both of which are also NIB.....

Holy what the! I should have my wife look at your hangar to go easier on me! How does the 59" fly? I'm torn between that and the 57" Extra. I'm sure they are all great. I assume yours are all electric or is the 89" gas? How do you decide which to fly with so many very nice airframes to choose from? Fly low!

All electric...the 89" has a Hacker Q80-8M in it, and is 7.5 horsepower, which is more than a DA-60. If you like "light and floaty" go with the 57", but if you fly in the wind a lot go for the 59" Slick... Either way put a Motrolfly 4315-714, on 4S with a Xoar 15X7 prop...great combo!!!

Where do you get the motor and props from at best price? will a 80 Amp ESC work OK? Just ordered one. You think the Motrolfly is better than the Hacker A40 10S?

Thanks, this helps and the latter is correct, the edge is floaty enough, I want some good wind penetration and a "heavier" feel. Sounds like the Slick is the one!

The motors directly from Ken a Subsonicplanes.com. When I built my 59" Slick, I put the Hacker A40-10S, and found it to be really "anemic" (and I really like Hacker motors), An 80 might work, but an ICE100 would work a lot better...

So the -10S was underpowered? The last thing I want is to not have more than enough punch with this plane. I have plans to really ring it out.

Steve what are your thoughts on the 4315-668 for the 59" Slick? That way I can still fly a 15x7or8 on 5s/3300; or a 16x6,7or8 on 4s/4000. Equal weight combo. I tried a 16-6 on a similar airframe style and the vertical thrust over the 15 was simply amazing. I also have a 2nd 59" in the box so could put a 714 on it later. Thoughts? Thanks much. Btad
