help with blade msr x batteries and charger

I'm planning on getting a Blade MSR X and a dx6i transmitter. I realized the heli doesn't come with any batteries or a charger.

I was wondering what batteries and charger to get. I saw this:

but read some reviews that said this device will not stop charging, and overcharge batteries.

Could someone kindly point me to a good but inexpensive charger and batteries for the Blade MSR X?

The one that comes with the rtf version isn't bad if you don't mind one at a time:

I don't think it comes with an ac adapter, but you can use 4 AA batteries. There's a little LED whiich goes out when charging is complete.

Hi! Welcome to RCG.

No, I've got two of these Celectra chargers and they do not overcharge batteries. At least the LED on them turns off after charging my 1S 3.7V lipos after around 25-30 minutes. I take them off the charger then. Don't know where you read that review but it's not supposed to do that...

Here's one review:

I think this is a good charger but it would be good to consider looking around for a cheaper price.

I use this charger:

but it takes a bit to get it set up and you have to buy a separate adapter to charge EFlite batteries in parallel. Charging in parallel has to be done carefully as well and some people in the RC community do not think its safe (for good reason...)

As for batteries, you could consider these:

They're cheap ($1.69 each) but should deliver enough juice for your MSRX. They probably won't last as long as the more expensive ones but then again you should probably only fly the MSRX for 4-5 minutes at a time because the motors will die quickly if used continuously for too long.

Another battery you could consider is this one:

but these are thicker than the other ones I posted and will split the battery holder on your skids if you crash as they're a very tight fit.

Once you get your MSRX, come on over to the "official" MSRX thread and chat with us there:

more people will see your posts usually. RCGroups tends to have fewer random posts (unlike and other forums) but instead tries to group all posts about a particular subject into a single thread. Thus, if you want to ask a question about something (DX6i, charger, MSRX) you can typically find the one "official" thread that has tons of posts and post your question there.

Good luck and happy flying!

Oh, I just wanted to add one more thing to this thread that I forgot to mention. (This is for anyone who comes by this thread via Google or something).

The Turnigy NanoTech batteries are thicker than regular Eflite-style batteries and so I'm not sure they will actually fit into the slots of the Celectra charger. What I did was to plug some of these:

into the Celetra charger and then I could connect any shape battery that had this plug to it.

WARNING!!! : Once you plug this extension cable into your charger, you will probably NOT ever be able to remove it without damaging the plug on your charger. There's no easy way to get your fingers around the plug because of the tight fit and if you try to use tools to pull it out you risk wrecking your charger plug. So....just be sure that you want to do this BEFORE you plug the wire into it. I very nearly destroyed two of my plugs on the first charger I tried this with.

That being said, I've done this with all four ports on both my chargers because I prefer it.
