Balsa Builder. With some foam.
ArneHu's Avatar
This was my first build, after many years of absence from the hobby. Received a box full of sticks, and a roughly carved propeller from BMJR Models. Was a challenge but fun. Have build many since. The model is a Kivi Koop Coupe. Motor is rubber band. Here is my oldest son, winding it up for test flight, a winter day.

My wife says that I have more choped up Balsa logs in the garage than trees left growing in Ecuador. My August Balsa build, Mallard on the board.

Nice looking Hurricane, I see you duplicated the rear fuselage turtle deck stringers as per the real one.

I build with wood and have done several kits from Park Scale Models. I have built the Lo-Lo, the Daddy-O, and several more. I have also co-designed several planes with Zeke. The Hughes XF-11 at 101", the Republic XF-12 Rainbow at 81.5". We just completed a 96" Grumman Albatross as well as a 48" Anderson King Fisher. I enjoy the design as well as the build

I built two Radical RC Mini Sticks and I am starting back up on my GP ElectriCub with two Dumas Waco's and a Campbell's Custom Kits' Ryan Navion waiting in the wings.

My kit build...

I was out of the hobby for several years and got back in recently. This is my method to regain some lost skills, both with building and flying. My first glow powered kit this century, a Sig Kadet LT-25 in bright, easy-to-see scheme with a Saito FA-40a:

Good choice, and nice covering job! I also built an LT-25 as my "re-entry" / refresher trainer when I got back into the hobby 10 years ago and hung an OS .40LA on the nose. After a few seasons I donated it to my club - wish I still had it.

I build balsa planes myself, but recently I've found younger guys fly foam. So, I wonder if there will be any balsa models in the future?

Seriously. Plenty of Folks out here building planes and Making Sawdust.

Not Unemployed. Not Retired. Not yet anyway.

I have a Flyline Great Lakes Trainer on the building board right now.

I have a Great Planes Electricub, a Dumas DH-89 Rapide and a
Andrews Minimaster stacked up in the corner for future building.

I know folks that Don't Build Anything because they Don't Know How.

You're NOT one of Those Guys, Are You ?
