A paler shade of green...

After a few hours of re-masking, I applied a light coat of Tamiya 'NATO Green' - a bit lighter in hue than the IPMS suggested but gives a better contrast on the model. Still a lot of touching up to do on the Schwartzgrun areas but I'm happier now and can proceed in peace......

Geez Pat, if you want to swing by my place, I have left over accurate RLM colors from the 109 project!

Thankyou for th nice comments everyone It seems that despite my ham-fisted paint problems, it is working out!
Kaikokid - you live in a nice part of the country - part of my family originally came from the Bay of Islands area where I spent most of my school holidays!
Now if I could fix my eyesight and its medication (grrrrrr) I'd be very happy

Pat - Funny that, part of my family lived in Bundaburg. Well, not quite the same but whats this 'bund' business anyhow?
BTW - There's nothing wrong with your eyes !

Tail Stuff Roughly Finished....

..or should that be finished roughly?
I had a minor 'senior's moment' when I was assembling the rudder - I hadn't realised I couldn't connect the rudder post to the pushrod......doh!
I finished up making the brass horn sit over the pushrod bend and soldering it to the rudder post - it cant come off unless the whole lot bends out of shape - and then I'd be in trouble anyway. The result is a somewht messy looking pile of metal which will be hidden in the tail-cone.... Thinking ahead would have helped! The rudder post extends below the fuselage to allow some sort of steering link to be attached.
Now all the tail pushrods etc work so I can think of the lightest way to make the tailcone - glass fibre, plastic moulding or balsa/filler/dope etc. Thinking.

Next will be the servos up front. The pushrods are about 3" over a standard 3' length of wire..............

Ay up it's warped

The tail cone looks fairly simple, what about an old fashioned modeling trick and just use rolled thin card and a balsa plug at each end?
