Question

Anybody know how to connect a second led to a DJI NAZA

Hi,

The V-SEN unit has a led, displaying signals from the DJI NAZA. I would like to connect a second led which I can place within my FPV camera view. So I can also see the signals on my screen.

First I was thinking of a optical fibre cable, but I think adding a second led is easier. Has anyone tried this?

Ido

Yes, the led connector is just voltage for each individual led color + GND
so just splice the original 4 piece cable and add another rgb led. Might want to use a resistor for each color as well, so you dont burn it out.

Cool, I've wondered this as well.

You could also find which wire does the red LED for low voltage. And just have that one in your FPV view so that you don't constantly have a blinking LED in your eyes.

But I would like to know if my quad holds altitude or not, or if its descending or climbing slowly.

Would of course be really nice if if shows up on my OSD, but thats not possible at the moment. Hopefully the OSD - Naza project will be a succes

There are also LED's that work on 5V as they have an internal resistor build in.

I'll try to figure out tomorrow what voltage the naza unit returns, i'm guessing 5v

nope, its not 5v, but how it all works dont really know, my small electronics knowledge is not so good.
The right (4) pin is the ground, 2nd pin is red, 3rd is green, yellow is mixed with 2 & 3 I think

but voltages... and what type of led i need, dont have a clue

it's probably pwm. just connect one led and see what it does. If it's too bright add a resistor.
it's common gnd and 3 signals for each color.

doesn't matter for your purposes. use a 1k resistor in series of you are worried about burning the led.
use any led, can even do 3 of same color.

What's a servo?
Just some clarification on this topic though, would this require hacking into the V-SEN module ( to parallel a LED to the V-SEN LED ) or could you splice straight off the wires that lead too the FC?

I think the VU just houses the LED.

The Naza feeds signal up the 4 wire cable. So you'd be able to tap into the 4 wire cable to branch off other LEDs.

Ok, got it working now, bought some leds and used the following pin layout

pin 4 = gnd
pin 2 = red
pin 3 = green
pin 2&3 = yellow
pin 1 = ?

Looking back at it, it was pretty easy. Now I have 2 small leds's showing on my FPV screen.

Which pin are you calling 1?
When your looking at the Naza is it the left one?

yes, looking at the naza, its the left one.

Come to think of it, It would have been better to call that nr 4, on the connector there is a small 1 printed on it, which is the ground, in my case I call it 4.
