Build Log

Tamiya Knight Hauler Semi Truck and Trailer

So for the last six months I've been laboring away at this kit. It was a lot of work, but so worth it in the end.The actuall build log was too long to post, so if you'd like to see more, just check my personal blog. Hope you all enjoy.

That's really sweet!

You did a good job on the paint. Just save for the MFU. You will get it someday.

I have been sitting on a King Hauler kit for 10 years now. Keep getting distracted by other builds and projects. But I am going to build it someday and really enjoy doing it.

Thanks! They are a challenge to build. Just really study the instructions when you do the transmission. I made a couple mistakes, and getting those e-clips off is a pain!

Did you use the kit supplied motor, or something else? Any aftermarket parts installed along the way?

I installed the light kit for the tractor and trailer, but other than that its totally stock out of the box. These trucks are all show, so I really dont see why anyone would modify the motor. The 3 speed transmission does all the work. I might get an oil shock kit for it just to smooth the ride a bit. The stock friction shocks squeak like crazy, so I lubed them with 3-in-1 oil. It rides nice and quiet now.

Thanks for all the compliments. This is definitely the one I'm most proud of, and my new favorite to drive.

Sorry, I don't have any vids of it. I'm a little slow in that field and don't even know how to post vids. Maybe my 14 year old daughter can teach me.

Rustler, if you go to my blog page I have a long blog about the build with about 18 pics. Thanks again!

Kevin.

Hey blkft! You and I go back a bit here on rcgroups. Good to hear from you again. Yes, it is the Knight Hauler. I liked it because it still had a lot of chrome, high stacks, and a sleeper. I went with the flatbed because it just had more detail then a box. The wood deck is beautiful!
