You think your chances of dodging a prop are better than getting hit by that mount?

Haven't you been told, it's no fun unless it has some form of danger?

Chasing dreams not d competion
I found all of it interesting Harry but as said this isnt the time or place nor do i want to get involved.

People making foldable quads with cameras on the front - how have you planned for IF there was a crash and an arm swung back into the camera?
Im making mine foldable with a feature of a weak link that in a crash the arms will hopfully swing saving some damage but where my camera is on the front the arms possibly will hit the camera. (The end of the arms that are inboard ie after the swing pivot).
Is it ok to assume the gimble will take the brunt and simply swing the camera out the way or is it just accepted the camera can also get destroyed?

Has anyone designed the gimble so it pops off in a crash?

Sorry if im not being clear, its better with some pics but mines not quite ready to be shown off yet.

Transport Quad

I made this one mostly of ash 1/4 inch square covered with ultracote. The nose and tail are blue foam painted with $1 silver paint water based from hobby lobby. The ends are held on with internal rubber bands so they can pop off in a crash. Battery hangs underneath with rubber bands too. Landing gear is epp foam from work. It is kinda' avatar or halo themed. It is my first quad to look like a plane. KK2 board flashed to 1.5 version.

Thought I'd share my second scratchbuilt quad.

400mm motor to motor, 3mm ply centre plates, 19.5mm box aluminium arms
Witespy Flip FC (and dome), Orange 6ch rx
HK F-30As with SimonK
Turnigy 2830 1000kv motors
Gemfan 9 x 4.7 props
Heli landing gear ball plus bamboo skewers for orientation aid

3000mah 3S battery gives about 11 min flight time, AUW of 1070g.

Just got to learn to flip it now!

well that is because your not looking close, or you dont know what your looking at LOL.
it was built completely from scratch with no KIT components.
and you're even wrong about the tupperware. its actually a 'family dollar' bowl. water/snow proof with locking tabs. (i fly in snow)
this tri actually evolved from a 5 foot wide beast that i couldnt get stabilized.
my tail-yaw assembly won a monthly original design contest at servocity.

I'll post some flight pictures. the design seems sound. im settling it in w the PIDs and trying to get the it to take full power without squirming.

did i mention i'm running the witespy flip. its amazing for $18. i want to try it on some different airframes but i think i love it.
