I think I'm inverted. Maybe.

Don't go quad or hex. Go tricopter. Much more of a blast to fly without FPV/Camera, orientation isn't an issue, and generally longer battery life than quads/hexs.

Retail frames are more expensive though. There aren't that many entry-level frames for sale, but building one is especially easy.

I'm decided.
DLG it is.
If I can't get the DLG, than it is a tricopter or a quad for me.

But here is what I have come up with:

DLG:
http://www.themonstr.com/Topsky-1-TS1.htm
$225.00

Servos for DLG:
http://www.servocity.com/html/hs-55_sub-micro.html
$40.00

Receiver:
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._Receiver.html
$11.00
(Put on my OrangeRX R610 and remove the OrangeRX casing)

Battery:
http://www.radicalrc.com/category/Re...-NiMH-Packs-19
$11.00

Total for DLG:
$287.00 + shipping

The topsky 1 was my first dlg. I am very very happy with it. I flew it in contests: the day i learned to launch and fly at the same time i went to a contest. It is a sweet plane. Have fun, but be careful. You might regret going cheap on electronics. I have a build video if you want to see it. Any questions feel free to ask. 1 more thing: take your time on the build and dont get epoxy resin on you: very nasty stuff. Let me know how it goes.

Oh and go lipo with reg light. $26 skipmillermodels. It has an idoit light to tell you when to stop flying and it lasts about 50 min. Also you can order the plane from skipmillermodels if you want.

Ok i have a friend getting into Rc he has a cheapo plane, what transmitter would you recomend that is really cheap. 72mhz is fine, just needs digital trims, and elevon mixing. Thanks

The only thing is that you have to plug it into a computer to reverse channels, change models, and program mixing. But it should grow with him for a plane or two

I disagree. The 52minute flight was done by a quadcopter. And in a tricopter you have a servo. In a quadcopter it is all motors- much more reliable
