It looks like it has a molded under camber wing. Is that a kit or scratch built?

Wow, so inventive! Thanks for sharing.

I don't see helium being used. Just regular air.

hello danford1,

it's scratch build. 3mm depron, bended with heat gun.

Plans are here:

http://www.roberts-r2d2-bau.de/downl...Motor_Wing.pdf

http://www.roberts-r2d2-bau.de/downl...Motor_Rips.pdf

The rips (Frame 1 - Frame 4) were only used as rough templates.

It was not my own idea. I was inspirated by https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67042

Yes, but remember hydrogen is even more buoyant than helium.

If we're looking for the slowest airplane flight then I think the current leader in the pre-assembled, store-bought, inexpensive category may be the $99 AS3xtra at 36 grams / 2.5 ounce /sq ft wing loading. Mine flies around about as slow as that balloon plane.

Well, AS3xtra can hover around like a helicopter...

When you fly your AS3xtra, do you have all the lift coming from the wings, or do you use prop-hang too?

Don't forget Vapor and Mini-Vapor.

The OP of this thread was looking for a slow flying plane that flies on the wing , not hanging on the prop - basically the lightest possible wing loading .

CG =Airplanes .. COG's = Gears
Although not the "Slowest Of The Slow" this DR1 from the Park Flyer board should be worth consideration. Very nice design by jetset44 from almost 10 years ago.

Mine flies and lands at air speeds similar to my Slowly and Magnum.

Built with FFF and powered with a Park 450. Very light, flies great and withstands the abuse I put it through.

If you'd like a slow flyer for the local park check it out.

Connie
