Why to wing halves?

Majortomski, excellent question on the wing design? The one wing panel would have been much simpler and would eliminate possible construction errors. We (mentors for YHS) really thought about some other changes during the 2013 construction phase but decided that part of the learning process Andy and his team wanted was to have students follow plans as much as possible. We made a few suggestions during the building phase last year and Andy's group incorporated some of them in this year’s race. They're really great to work with!

Here are some pictures from back in January from the STEM class of Harding College Prep Charter School in OKC. As I said above the only work not done by the students so far was joining the two wing halves, shaping the leading edge and fuelproofing the firewall and fuel tank area. (didn't want the dope smell in the classroom).
