Damn!!!!! I LOVE it!!

A near perfect solution for the "no one makes scale outboard electric powerplants" anymore!!!

A hat tip, as they used to say, to you Sir!!!

I did a quick float test today to see how she sits in the water.

So far I am happy! By the time the superstructure is on the front it should sit just about right. I might drop down to a 5cell pack to make it a better fit and to reduce the the weight at the back.

Very happy though, and no leaks!

Loks great Lewist!

ps. I wonder if the motor should be a little higher up the transom?

Well yes and no. It will be a touch higher when finished, but the low-ness is also an optical illusion. Normally with an outboard, there is cut out lower section of the transom around the engine. In my boat, the battery sits in the back area and so there is no space to re-create the cutout. This makes the engine look lower than it might do otherwise. This is my first scratch build proper, so it will do for this time.

I have been doing a bit more work and will have some pictures tomorrow, including steering and some more deck work.

Just a few more photos of what I have done to date.

I have run battery wires and tubes for flexible pushrods for the steering through the side frames of the open cockpit area.

I have rigged up the steering (not 100% but OK) and started to line the cockpit area and cover over the top of the deck. Going ok, needs some filler here and there and some smoothing up. I also need to figure out how to do the cabin area. I am not sure whether to make the whole cabin removable for better access, or just the cabin roof for ease of build and water-proof-ness.

Any thoughts?

This is the sort of style I am going for with the outboard.

Time for an update - I have been decorating the house recently so havn't had much time to dedicate to this, although I have now had the boat out on its maiden voyage yesturday and generally speaking, I am very happy.

Here are a few pictures of the paint so far. I still have to add much detail, make the roof of the cabin area, add windows, and controls to the cocpit area etc - like many projects there is a lot of detail to keep me busy.

Time for the maiden voyage...

Just few pictures.

It seems to go quite well. Planes, but slowly with 4 cells so I tried a 6 cell pack. I really picks up nicely on 6 cells and the weight distribution seems OK.

I think I am going to invest in a decent sized 2s LiPo pack to give decent speed and battery life.

Looks good, I really should finish mine.
What made you decide to not to do the stepped chine that the plans show?
