We have had several guys in our club holler out, I have no control & then nose into the ground. Last month a very experienced pilot crashed a real nice 4-stroke Chipmunk into the ground & another crashed a $7000 turbine jet into the ground with both guys using Spektrum radios. I for one am a 72MHZ holdout, I have found that my Futaba radio coupled with a decent dual conversion (crystal type) receiver
is fairly bullet proof. I am basically sticking my "toe" in the water bringing my new Fly Sky FS-T6 to the field with me, I have just 2 models on that radio so far but have not had any problems with either my Turnigy 9X or the FS-T6 so far, all my binds are good & solid & have not had any reception problems. However, based on what I have personally seen with guys losing bind, I will NOT be buying any Spektrum brand radios any time soon. |

My experience has been just the opposite-seems that something is at play, here, and my mere opinion is that folks just don't design the power systems to conform to Spektrum's specifications regarding voltage requirements-just my 2 cents.

Yep, i'm a Spektrum guy. I have been for about 5 years now. I started with a Spektrum DX7 (that i'm still using to this very day). I have a large assortment of receivers, both Spektrum and Orange, that I use on all of my planes. Mostly Orange though because they are so inexpensive compared to the brand name stuff.
Long story short.... I love Spektrum! It works GREAT!! Don't get me wrong, I also feel that there are "better" systems available, but i'm still more than happy with the performance that Spektrum offers. |

I experienced a brownout this past sunday, using a DX8 and an AR600. I noticed a vibration in flight, and when I landed my motor was loose. Turns out the screws fastening the motor to the motor mount had backed out a bit. The screws were brown. I assume that's what people mean by brownout.
I also had a lockout. I left my DX8 in the car when I got home, went in, and locked the door. Seriously, I like my spektrum gear. No doubt other brands are good too. The only radio related problems I've seen at my club field were 72Mhz - there seems to be a trouble spot in the far back right corner that occasionally causes total loss of control with 72Mhz planes. Haven't seen a problem with any 2.4 gear, spektrum, futaba, or other. |

I have used Futaba since I first bought an RC radio in 1978. My last Futaba radio was the 9CAP. I bought a JR XP9303 and found it had several more features than the 9CAP including 9 Proportional Channels.
When the Spektrum RF Module came out, I had 9 Proportional Channels on 2.4, as well. Futaba had not come out with 2.4, yet, and when they did, a 2.4 Module for my 9CAP was only 8 channels. While Futaba may have a fine lineup of 2.4 radios, now, they missed the boat with me. I have not had any problems with Spektrum based radios. I also have a DX8 and will be looking to get a DX18, soon. Most of my 110 RC club members have Spektrum radios so we support one another with Programming and Setup questions. No reason to switch. |

If these guys had Spektrum colors the crash would of been blamed on the radio.

I mean just mention Spektrum at a field and planes will fall out of the sky, even the full scale ones nearby........, heck there will even be a massive brown out of the local power grid............it's true I tell ya |

If your club members are having more trouble than the rest of us, that's a sign that there's something going on at your flying field. Maybe there's a source of broadband interference nearby.
