Wal-Mart Foam boards 20 X 30 X 3/16

Are these "foam boards" the same as depron or what type foam are they? are they good to make "foamie" type planes out of ? they have a plasticy like skin on both side should one peel this off or leave it on or are they any good at all? Also what type foam are those can holder/insulators made from, if those were a litte thicker and you could get it in sheets has anyone made anything out of that type foam?

The "Strudy Board" foam boards that you can get at Wal-Mart and other places is essentially "Depron" sandwiched between paper. If the paper is left on it is too heavy a material to use for most smaller electric-powered planes. However, if you soak in water and remove the paper, you can get an excellent 0.6 ounce per square foot material you can build with. There are many ways to remove the paper, but basically you soak and peel it.

I think the cup holder type of foam is polyurethane, which would be too squishey and flexible to build with. Also heating this foam (as with a hot wire) releases toxic gasses.
