Corona Battery power low? I know nothing about batteries!!

Okay, so I finally rebuilt my Corona using carbon fiber everything, AND I got it set up, and when it came time to fly, my batteries just didn't have the juice.

I don't know anything about batteries. I have a cheap charger, and I don't know how long, or even how to charge them. They are 7 cell nicad's. One is 2400, one is 2600 mah. DO I need to run them all the way down?

When I trickle charge them for a long time, they are still low.

Can someone recommend some reading, or instruction on what to do?

Thanks a lot!!! I really want to get flying!

My advice would be to get a nice peak charger, something like an MRC Superbrain 959. It will charge your batteries quickly (30 minutes or so) and will peak charge them. It will charge to their full capacity (peak) and stop charging. The Superbrain will charge up to 8 cells at up to 4.5 amps, all for only $50. Usually, if you trickle charge your batts, they seem to not put out as much power as if you regularly charge them at a higher rate (2C-3C).

"C" refers to the rated capacity of the cells, so if you charge 2400Mah cells at 2C, then you charge them at two times their rated capacity. 2 x 2.4 Ah or 4.8 amps. The 4.5 amp rate of the Superbrain is good.
