Question

USBasp AVR programmer to program a multiwii

I am giving away my CRIUS multiwii to a friend, but I want to keep the FTDI (basic) breakout with me.

I can see some 6 pins (in 2 rows) on my multiwii.

Can I use a USBasp AVR programmer to program the multiwii? (instead of FTDI)

Thanks.

Yes, but you will need to edit some stuff in arduino IDE if you want to keep it seamless.
Also you won't be using the arduino bootloader in this case.

http://tutorial.cytron.com.my/2011/0...sp-programmer/

etc

only problem is of course you still need some usb>serial stuff to connect to GUI and configure stuff.

Thanks for the reply timecop.
I can connect to the arduino IDE.
But since I'm no programmer and no EE, can you specify what else I need to connect to the GUI? (ie. what's the extra usb>serial stuff?)

or you could use an LCD to do parameter tuning and avoid the GUI completely.
