Hey Joe, the strange thing is, I don't remember much about her nose, only her huge ......................................... eyes!!
Hey what did you think I was going to say...
Andy

Keep the pics coming David, it's starting to look exactly like the toy plane you had. Great build.

Thanks for the good words, y'all!

When I estimated the dry airframe weight, I said 67 grams... I just piled the pieces on the scale and got 89 grams. Ouch.

The wing and booms are 3 grams underweight... but the fuselage is fat by 25 grams, probably from the adhesives. I need to remove the equivalent of almost 200 sq in of foam and I don't think there is that much in her.

I think that, when I remove the upper section of the fuselage over the wing saddle, to make a hatch I will excavate most of the internal structure and rely on the foam shell to carry the loads. I'll attach a loop of wire to a soldering iron. It might make a excellent tool for the liposuction.

But, the sanded fuse is quite pretty!

I'll be adding the wheel attach points and giving a light spray of paint to the fuse in the next few days, intending to cut the hatch and do the liposuction before the end of this week.

I had to go fly, this evening, when the wind died before dark. I took my UM Champ and Stevens Aero Buzzbomb 100 out and had a delightful time.

Tonight, I used some basswood strip to add the landing gear attach points and sanded the fuse even more. Tomorrow, I may spray some paint on the fuselage.

The paint on the fuse looks great! I was able to get about 7 grams of weight off the fuse. I've also decided to KFm the wing, both to stiffen it and perhaps increase the CLmax against the weight.

Some pictures... I KFm'ed the wing and sanded it. Then, I glued up the raw booms and horizontal stab. Tomorrow, I'll sand the booms and stab, mask off the tail (to be red), and paint the wing and booms silver. If there is time, I'll put the lines and markings on the wing and booms before cutting the ailerons.

Hi David

Looking really good with some paint on. I like the method you're using to hold the wing on, very clever.

Thanks, Andy!

I'll use the upper surface of the mid wing for batteries and systems; securing the aft end of the hatch with a magnet.

Going down stairs to the garage. I painted the wing and boom assembly.

I am really impressed with the care you are taking to make this plane look like your toy as a child. I hope it flies and flies and flies. Great job.
