I get a little confused, is this thread for discussing the HK Orange 3 Axis Gyro, VERSION 1 or VERSION 2 or Both?
The reason I ask, is because at this stage I only have Version 1 (I bought two the day they were released )and it gets a bit confusing when reading what someone is saying, only realise they are referring to V2 and not V1. Perhaps the OP should modify the topic reflect exactly which gyro this thread is referencing? Or separate threads made (other than "noobee's" - 'Open Flight Stabilizer' thread) for V1 and V2. B!LL! |

Whats a VTO pogo? does it have delta mixing, like a wing. I havent seen many "delta" set up's yet with the V2. Tobad there wasn't a manual with the V2..i need some chinglish.... Reason i wanted mine on a On/off situation was purely to take off in normal flight and get up high and turn it on... just in case something is messed up with it..i'll be able to turn it off. Quote:

Today I re-set the gains to a slightly Higher setting approx 2:30 ~3:00 position on the aileron & elevator....
took it up high...turned it on ( BTW- V2) and bingo...worked just fine only thing i notice about the gyro on my plane is...it doesn't love Fast..as it begins to wiggle ( oscillate) not uncontrollable ...just noticable...I will leave it..as I only really use it at moderate speeds anyway. it is cool..& the BIGGEST thing I noticed...was, when my fun cub is inverted...I have to work to keep it there....flys well without much down or up input...but it wants to right it's self. With the Gyro on....it doesn't mind staying there at all Very cool. Enjoy your Gyros folks Pat |

Here's the Zoombi 3D bipe with the gyro on the bottom. It's held on with velcro with a velcro strap to steady it more from flexing. This is the version 1. The Pogo is a vertical takeoff delta. Full size has contrarotating turbo props. Give it a google. The version 2 gyro is mounted on the bottom of the wing. Both have orange rcvrs. The Pogo is about 10 yrs old and getting a little rough around the edges
Pat : Mine did the wiggle at high speed too on the rudder and I backed off on the sense a smidge till it quit. Didn't seem to affect the gyro stability on the rudder. I guess once we're in the ballpark it doesn't take much to fine tune it. |

On my Superfly delta wing I tried every possible combination with no success, until I turned the V2 sideways. Then it was fairly straight forward to get everything working right. And it flies great. |

Hey Bill, looks to me this thread can cover both. If i understand correctly, the V1 and V2 are functionally the same, except for the added features on the V2 of 1) ability to turn off from transmitter and 2) mixing functions for Delta and V-Tail. Otherwise the basic controls, problems, and adjustments are the same. Must admit most of the discussions lately are trying to sort out the new features of V2, since there are no instructions.

Alrighty, guys. I finally got mine in the mail and, after some struggles, seem to have it working on my delta wing-y plane.
I read through (some of) this thread and saw many posts about getting a delta setup working. (Including mounting the unit sideways.) FWIW, here's how mine is set up.
I haven't flown it yet but, so far, this seems to be working. |

I just checked my newest (number 4) RX3S that arrived last week in case the firmware has been updated. I still see the same operation as I did with my 3 originals. The limits of my AUX control knob (DX8 - AUX3 mixed to AUX1) are set to 1.104ms (narrow) to 1.904ms (wide). I started with the pulse width set at 1.104ms (stabilization ON) and gradually increased the width while moving the RX3S and watching the Aileron servo. The amount of correction did not change until the pulse width got to about 1.684ms at which time stabilization turned OFF and remained off up to my maximum pulse width of 1.904ms. Early on I had a problem with not being able to turn off stabilization with a 2 position switch. The problem turned out to be that the firmware in the RX3S only turns stabilization off if the pulse width is within the proper range of about 1.6ms to about 2.0ms. If the pulse is too wide, stabilization turns back on again. John |

I'm sorry that I didn't manage to read all 87 pages, been browsing some of the later where it was a discussion of servo jitter on the V2.
I have two V2's at home and I experiance jitter. In particular on the aileron channnel. If only rudder and elevator is connected all is fine. If I hook up aileron I get jitter on the aileroon servos and some minor on another servo. As I understand more have had this problem but I havn't found any sollution yet. Is ti solved and I just missed it? Please point me in the right direction. Thanks. PS. I'm using FrSky transmitter and recievers from a Turnigy 9x with er9x software. |

Good question, Fluf. In case you missed it earlier in this thread, it has been determined that digital servos are more likely to buzz and jitter than are analog servos, mainly because digital servos generally have a tighter deadband. Apparently it's just a tendency of the stabilizer, that may or may not be correctable. So I use analog servos to mask the issue.
I also have noticed cross-talk (jitter) from one channel to another, but don't remember seeing any answer/solution to that. Maybe too much gain, not sure. Stay tuned, hopefully someone will comment. |
