Finally got time to post a little flight video of the u816a. It's not much, but the weather just wouldn't co-operate with me so I had to settle for flying indoors and my camera doesn't record as clear in lower light. Oh well

UDI U816A Quadcopter Flight Video (2 min 19 sec)

over all it was a pretty great little flyer and the shroud will certainly help beginners out some at first.

That's one of my biggest headaches. I try to circumvent by using a Devo 8s with deviationtx firmware.

I have the u816. hovers nice when you can micromove the throttle but watch out when it decides to run off.
there is no fury worse then a woman scorned, or an out of control quad in the wind.

Question.

Whilst waiting for my micro to arrive. I have been reading posts and watching videos. In one video it showed the person unpacking, then 'test' flying. After I assume the battery was charged. It was all over the place crashing into walls etc.
So my question is. Do these things have to be set up, and if so are these in the instructions in good Chinglish?

flying in general demands practice with in some cases hitting walls, floors, breaking lamps trimming plants etc
the manual will only explain the technical side of the bird and TX not how to fly

Thanks for your reply Oxygen. But what about the trimming that I have seen mentioned? From what I have seen with my mates big quad with a KK board, and the fiddling he has to do, it makes me wonder.

mostly it flies out of the box...
the only thing that can be done is prop balancing (to reduce noise and shake)

You can trim the quad with the electronic trim buttons on the transmitter, but the 2 inexpensive quads I have have needed almost no adjustment at all. You might need to balance blades, but other than that there is not much adjustment to be made.

Ensure that after plugging in the battery, place the quad on a flat, stable and level surface immediately. This is to allow the gyro to initialize. With that done properly, minimal trim is required.
