Yup. He also is well known for his low level sloping exploits. If you take a look at some of his other vids on youtube, you'll see what I mean.

Awesome looking sky you have there Mike. Very jealous.

Our typical summer (nice day) cloud-base is about 5000' and on the 'day of the year' 7000' max. More often than not I'm to be found on an average day grovelling around at about 4000'. Just as well I like doing cloud-climbs.....

Hi Godon,

I think cloud base that day was around 15,000 ft (9,000 ft agl). We can not fly in clouds, so this is how we are compensated.

Certainly looked a nice day out.
Weather here has been very poor for the last month, and I have only managed a couple of circuits in the clubs K-18 and K-13.

a bad day soaring is better than a good day at work! I hope that someone who is an RC soarer sees these posts and gets motivated to find a soaring site and try it out!

That is the same for the most part here in Florida and it's best in the spring with 5-7K typical. In the summer months you can get to 5K or better but you have to be prepared for OD and major thunderstorms that can develop very quickly.
By the way, great video of slope soaring in England, you guy's have some of the most beautiful slopes anywhere in the world IMO.

Santa is already briefed on the 3rd edition.

We have had some inclement weather over here in the last week which resulted in a very bad morning when I arrived at work!
Luckily the glider was in the workshop.
