New Product

PX4FMU Autopilot System (Cortex M4F)

I just came across this flight controller, it appears to have been announced very recently. It seems like it could be a very robust flight controller at the same price point as a NAZA.

Finally an inexpensive and fully featured flight controller with redundant sensors and plenty of processing power!

The software seems to still be in the development stages, but the hardware is being finalized.

A multirotor setup would run $150 for the flight controller with support for 4 motors. More than four motors requires the purchase of an expansion IO board for $100. For an additional $75 you can hook up a uBlox gps module for autopilot too.

PX4FMU Autopilot (50x36mm) $150
- Cortex-M4F, 168 MHz / 252 MIPS
- MPU-6000 [Accelerometer/Gyro]
- L3GD20 [Gyro]
- BMA180 [Accelerometer]
- HMC5883L [Magnetometer]
- MS5611 [Barometric Pressure]
- MicroSD data logging

PX4IO Module (for planes) $100
- Cortex-M3 failsafe processor
- SBUS or PPM
- 8 PWM (400Hz)
- 2x 40V 1A Relays

PX4FLOW
- Cortex-M4F, 168 MHz / 252 MIPS
- MT9V034 [CMOS Image Sensor & Gyro], 752x480
- 16mm Lens

Peripherals
- 3DR Radio, 433MHz & 915MHz
- u-Blox LEA-6H GPS

Ground Station
- qgroundcontrol
- APM Mission Planner

More information at PIXHAWK
Purchase from 3DRobotics

Very interesting to see all of these high powered FC boards coming out of the woodwork. The rest of this year is going to be great for MRs.

If you worry about the $75 price for a GPS unit, then you're not the target audience for this platform. The PX4 is meant as a scientific research platform where hardware performance and reliability is everything.

So why do they have a adaptor board for AR Drone (which to me is a toy, but I could be wrong!)

AR Drones just happens to be some of the best hardware available for indoor flights. No need to reinvent the wheel on a daily basis.

The mediatek GPS is $40, but they recommend the *upgraded* uBlox GPS for $75. I fixed the post.

It will be interesting how well this product catches on. It can be purchased with a mediatek gps for less than an ardupilot, yet the hardware far exceeds that of the APM 2.5 IMO. Hopefully we see some footage of this working on other multicopters soon. I don't see an ARdrone being a worthy platform for this flight controller, but I recall reading that the makers of the ARdrone helped to fund this project.

Sounds very familiar. The market, however, is looking for solutions that work out of the box. We have had enough of throwing our money at someone else's test platform.

If you read the description youll see this board is aimed at research and development. The hardware works, you just have to write your own code for it.

This boards are in stock now

But as I understand, there is no firmware in it, so it will not fly yet?
There was a video of flying on youtube, how they did it?
