I've got a couple other builds to get finished first, so it'll be a winter project.
Dude the jet is already flying! I did the maiden last month Im using
8s 3300 & 4000mah packs
ARC 36-75-1 motor
Wemo 90mm fan
Castle Ice 100amp esc

Not exaggerating but hands down, this jet actually sounds like a turbine!!!

Could anyone who knows tell me if the stripes are painted on or simply decals that could be removed?

Just started to tinker with mine today - got the fan, motor, ESC, external UBEC, RX bound to TX, did a test run on the motor. All is working.
It would appear as though the stripes are decals. Can't tell for sure but they may have a clear coat over them.

Did anybody get any build instructions for this?

Daniel, have you kept this CG or have you tinkered with it and moved it to a better location?

Ive removed all the lead weight in mine and my CG is just behind the main spar, or 65mm from where the wing meets the fuse. I havent moved it any further, it possibly can but I'm not gonna try it Ive done enough test piloting this year crashed waay to many jets.

If I recall correctly, you had a LOT of weight up front. I'm amazed that moving the CG back 15mm from the stock recommended allows you to take all that weight out. Was that with the battery shoved as far forward as possible? I'm going to use a 5000mah battery. Hopefully, that will give the nose needed weighting.

I had 150grams of lead weight in there. Yes my batteries including the receiver pack are as far forward as I can get them to fit!

Thanks again (and for the correction). I'll also be using a UBEC with its own battery. 150 grams is about the size of one of my 1800mah, 3S batteries. I should just find an old dead one for ballast.

Nearing completion of my BD-5 but I've reached a bit of an impasse. I've installed a set of HobbyKing retracts. The mains went in pretty slick, but I'm having a time figuring out how to do the front retract and make it steerable. With the stock fixed gear, it would have been easy. With the HK retracts and the supplied steering method where the steering servo is actually attached the moving part of the retract, there is no room for the servo to clear. Even using the steering piece off my old F/A-18 EDF, there is no room. Either way would require quite a bit of the plywood framework to be cut and removed. Then the strength of the retract mount would be weakened. You can see the 2 types of steering gear in the following vid. At least I've got the rest of winter to figure it out.

Too many numbers
Just found out I'm getting this for Christmas! Sweeeeet!

Anyone know what size wheels and how deep the retract wells are? Looking for gear. Thanks!
