The Dynam package includes the free FMS simulator which is quite old. It's tricky getting FMS to run on relatively new Windows operating systems but it is possible. XP is not too bad but if you have Win7 it's a real fiddle.
Even if you want a free simulator there are newer ones that are much easier to get going with. Steve |

Using Dynam Sim Controller with Google Earth
FYI - a pretty cool R/C FPV (First Person View) simulator can be accomplished with Google Earth's Flight Simulator option and this Dynam sim controller. It doesn't recognize the controller automatically so you just need to make a simple change in the generic controller config file.
After downloading and installing Google Earth (http://www.google.com/earth/download/ge/agree.html), go to this location on your computer - C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Google Earth\client\res\flightsim\controller and edit generic.ini using Notepad. Look for the 'axes' section and copy these settings in (took a lot of trial and error to figure this out!): Code:
axes = [ A0 set(DA, 1.0, 0.0) A1 set(DE, -1.0, 0.0) A2 set(DP_0, -0.5, 0.5) A5 set(DR, 1.5, 0.0) ] Oh yeah - here's some flight-handy keyboard shortcuts:
Now, have fun travelling around the world! |

Configuring and messing with FMS is a waste of time compared to Helisimrc. HelisimRC will get you used to using throttlehold, expo, throttle/pitch curves, idle up, etc. It's more realistic than FMS and it will run on more systems than FMS, not doing anything to it. Plus you can import FMS models into it. When I first started on sims, I was amazed when I found out about helisimrc, versus FMS (what I was using at the time). Just my opinion.
