"Final Flight" announcement

Time to "fold the tent." These past 5 years (since the summer of 2007) when I returned to the R/C model plane hobby have been real fun. Now it's time to move on. Also, sickness in the family is taking front-in-center of my time. So I'm "cleaning out the closet." I'm giving away all my gear. I'm not sending/mailing stuff to anyone, so this offer only makes sense to someone who's within driving distance of northern Alabama. My home town of Cullman is close to I-65, about an hour's drive south of Huntsville, AL, and an hour's drive north of Birmingham, AL. You'll probably need an empty station wagon or large sedan to cart the stuff away.

Who'd be interested in this gear? Someone who's focus is UM (ultra-micro), DIY foam construction models, simple 3-channel gear (mostly Hobbico Flyzone stuff.) My special interest has been WWI stand-off scale, real slow flying models ("floaters"). I'm also giving away a considerable amount of older generation electronic gear (e.g., 1970s and 1980s discrete components, Hitachi 5" scope, etc.)

Here's an outline of my gear:

Vintage kits
Glues, cements
Lots of new, small 1S,130mAh lipos
Hobbico/Flyzone UM receivers, transmitters
Tools (including foam cutters)
Materials (foams, etc)
Electronics components
Camera gear
Decal gear

Other pertinent info:

The URL below will take you to the RC Group's website, where I posted the 'build log" of the last plane I built. The first post in that log will show a list of URLs --- which pretty well cover the instructions for my various construction techniques over the last five years since 2007.

Being a long time modeler I know how hard this is.

Although I'm new to u/m, I've been hooked pretty hard ... you can read my posts here.

I live due east of you in Georgia, more than an hour, but I'd make the trip.

I've sent a PM to you.

Sorry to see you go, Bill, hope all goes well. I once tried to leave this hobby (though not under such serious circumstances), but it inevitably pulled me back. We'll see you again some day

Hey, guys, tnx for all the good words!

I gave all my stuff to Ted Duncan --- he came over from Jasper, GA, yesterday, in a big 2 1/2 ton Army truck he completely re-built and modified.

He's a genuine DIY'er, so he'll take good care of the merchandise. .

I've had opportunity to work over the past couple of days ... and ... well money is money. I will put together some time to properly thank you (maybe more of them cookies).

BUT ....

You took the time to COPY YOUR MICRO A/C FILES for me??????

I've just about read through your notebooks (LOVE the black one) and a good number of the discs.

I have put new lables on these things.

I call it:

You have given me study material enough to get a degree in micro flight!!!

Thank You VERY much ... and hope to see you again soon.

I want to thank you for all you've done for this hobby. I hope all will be well for you and your family.

I will fly one of your DR-I's you gave to Gene and I will remember where it came from. Sorry I have not had a chance to meet you yet. I met Gene early this month when he was passing through to go to MD. He's a great guy and thinks the world of you.

Maybe you can come back at some time and we shall all welcome you.

Thank you again,

Hey Bill,

Ol' Henry is pretty "choicey" about all that "US Army Truck" stuff. Although he's real proud of what the did since 1968 (!!!), he's retired now and thrilled to be a good ol' "PFC" (private ... civilian) mule. Mules is a bit proud and can be a little persnickety if they think your talking ill about them.

Although he seems to like a/c's and hauling them around ... he's of a mind to keep all four feet firmly on Earth!

Other than that, his official motto is "If you ain't having FUN ... you ain't doing it right"!!!

See ya' soon.
