Question

What brand ESC should I buy?

I recently got into 3D flying and took a Precision Aerobatics Edge MX from a buddy of mine. All it needs is a 70a ESC SBEC. After looking at the PA website, I found that they want $109.00 plus another $12 for shipping. My buddy advised me to do the Hobby King Turnigy for $28 dollars but I am a little skeptical. I attached the link to the one suggested.

All I can say is I own 4 turnigy plush escs, and they are holding up and working just fine. Can't say that about all my castle or e flight ones...

Well that is good info. do they come with the connectors for the motor or would I have to purchase them separately?

I have had turnigy before, but I highly recommend this
http://www.hobbypartz.com/60p-dye-1018-70a-esc.html
and I recommend for an extra dollar you get the 80 amp, I own 4 of these 80amp and over 300 flights in my funjet pushing it to 78-84 amps and getting 97 amp burst on every speed pass and no problem, of course lots of throttle controls,
anyhow, unless you are doing heli, then there is no need for castle, this will do the job flawless,

This is the part of the same family as the Hobbywing Pentium and Turnigy Plush range.

Plush 60 has been totally trouble free for me, and should be big enough if you can't find a 70A - If you're running a Thrust 50 it should pull only 52A on an APC 15x7E.

52A on 6S for a 4lb model

I've got a PA Bandit and i'm using a Turnigy Plush 60a on 4s and pushing close to 80amps on peaks with a constant of about 70a on WOT and it has been absolutely trouble free. Goes ok for a 3lb plane.

Use the Dynam's mentioned above all the time. Never a problem.
