Nats

I will be there along with Denny Maize and Mike Bethel. We will have 2 Oracles, a V-Tail WindDancer, 2 Scimitars, and a 1st Generation Radian with some of the Naton mods. We'll be there Sunday afternoon/evening, see you there!!

Ready to come play guys, I need some redemption, and I am seeing the ALES at Nats as an opportunity. Cannot wait!

Ed said around 9:30 or so at dinner tonight. Remember, ALES has onsite registration which can be as late as 9AM tomorrow (Mon).

Weather's looking pretty good for the next couple days so should be a lot of fun!

Alright it's past noon and the ALES event has been going on for at least three hours, surely there must be some blood on the ground, smoke out of some ESC or a small LiPo fire. A leader must have emerged by now. We need a blow by blow, round by round report of the action. Yes pictures would be nice too.

Ok, day 1 is in the can. An uncharacteristically beautiful day in Muncie. Light and variable winds, dark blue sky, and lots of lift and sink. Looks like the same for tomorrow. The sky was blue to the point where if you got too high, it would start to eat your ship.

We got 6 rounds in today and here are the top 10 at the end of day 1:

1. Bob Burson
2. Marc Gellart
3. Jack Iafret
4. Kerry Cochrell
5. Don Richmond
6. Arthur Marklewicz
7. Dan Myers
8. Randy Brust
9. Denny Maize
10. Paul Perret

Time to rehydrate and get ready for more fun tomorrow.

Marc Gellart--Tragi 801, Bob Burson--Ava F, Papa Smurf--Supra

A beautiful BBS (Big Blue Sky) day in Muncie. These days can be scarey cause the atmosphere is very stable, there was no densities even forming, but if you went with the breeze, you were rewarded in most cases. Now, if I can ever figure out this sliding thing down on landings, when it bites I am thinking it is going to slide, if it slides I was expecting a bite. Oh well, having fun and it is as good as it gets in Muncie in August.

You have to like a contest where everything from a red 4 meter molded sailplane to a humble foam Radian flys together. Here is a picture of the ALES field of planes and contestants at this years Nats.

Holy crap those ALES guys fly some big planes. My Radian would have shriveled up and hid if I had stayed for ALES.
