Mike: If you look at a profile, the canopy is a little more streamlined than mine is. Yours really captures the look. I'll be working on that and the nose today.

BTW, here are some squadron markings for your consideration.

Thanks Woody,
I decided to go with the Cherry Point scheme and ordered the decal set 2 days ago so I can send them off to Callie. It's the one with the blue tail ( it's in your third attachment).

i12flyrc I found this: USS Coral Sea- (VMA(AW)) 224)

If you notice the second plane, from bottom, has same tail number as the one you picked. Should look great!!!

Just found this one, hope link works! http://dishmodels.ru/gshow.htm?p=4786&lng=E

Might help on the detailing.

Hmmmmmmm.....same squadron, different markings. My markings are from VMA 224 in 1972 aboard the USS Coral Sea on Yankee Station, taking part in Operation Linebacker II.

I have a jpg file with all of the decals needed for each of the three schemes on the photo below. I also have the complete squadron history for VMA(AW)-224 if you would like it. I joined the squadron in 1974.

I did an A-6 arf in the past and put the insignias of two of the squadron I served in on it... 224 on the port side and 332 on the stbd. VMA(AW)-332's tail is also very nice and visible in the air.

I plan on doing a 40" version of Joe's plane in the near future.

Not much to show for today. Got the ailerons cut out and faced with balsa. Tomorrow will glass the wings, mount the servos and run the servo extensions.

BackintoRC: thanks for the offer, wish I had heard from you sooner, but I've just spent a couple of days making up a set, but I do have a question. Is there anything that would show stencil/ locations on the A6 ?

Woody the only thing I've run across are pictures... the model below is a very good representation of the primary panel lines and decals on the top & side.

I'll also pm the decal images just in case you come up with a use.

Nag, nag, nag:
Just for you John. Today will be a lot of sanding, filling and final shaping. I think the canopy lines are better now. Nose is a go too. Will glass the bottom of the wings then mount the servos. Once that's done I can close up and shape the top.

Looks great Woody. Going to glass the whole thing? Water base or resin?
Can't wait to see it finished. The same goes for i12flyrc's A-6.
