F-22 Raptor 24" WS

This is my F-22 Raptor 24" WS. I just got into scratch builds a few weeks ago. I have owned some trainer planes in the past and I'm hooked now. I am still trying to understand how to choose the correct motor and prop and battery combinations. This plane has a 1300 Kv motor and a 7X5 prop using a 3S 800 mAh battery and it flies great. Its not super fast but can still do loops and spins with no issues. It flies great at low speeds and it hovers awesome in a slight wind. I watched many videos online and took ideas from other builders. I went with the KF air foil with this one and it flies better than my first F-22 without the KF. I just ordered a new 2600Kv motor and I will build another F22 for that motor. So far I have built 3 Funbats and 2 F-22's. The Funbat is very fun and maneuverable but everyone loves to see the jets fly. I often get people that stop and pull over to watch it fly.

Anny comments or questions are welcome.

F-22 22" ws

Here is my first F-22. I did not use a pusher style setup with either of my F-22's and they fly great. This jet is quite fast with a simple Grayson Hobbies disposable foamie motor in it.

Personally, for these small pusher (mid prop) jets I prefer a 2212-6 turn motor at 2200 Kv with a 6 X 4 prop. It will make this size plane whistle and yet handles well at low speeds. Also, fairly light. 30 amp ESC is sufficient. Just my 2 cents.

Here is some video shot from my 24" WS F-22. There was a rare lightening storm and I wanted to get some footage of a lightening strike, but no luck. The lousy velcro that was on my battery did come loose on my landing approach and made my plane go into the spiral of death! Ha ha! fortunately the damage was minor and I repaired it and test flew it. Amazing stability from only a 24" wing span. Hope you like the video!

Here is a video of my build of this F-22 and it's maiden. My palms were sweaty thinking I was going to have to be quick on the sticks to keep it from crashing. Not to worry, it took to the air like a bird on a wing.
