Plank tapering techniques

I am currently building a typhoon and it requires a lot of tapered planks.

My question is: what way is best for tapering planks. My method seems quite tedious though it works:

A. Make marks every two inches along the plank as guides
B. mill off using a small wheel grinder and check measurements with calipers as i go
C. Block sand once general shape is achieved to straighten edges.

This seems to take forever and I am wondering if there are better methods out there or better tools?

I have built just one plank-on-frame hull. I used a small pocket plane to trim the edges of some of the cheater planks, and a sanding block, too. My planks were balsa, so it cut easily.

If you cant find it Build it!
I use a disc sander, its fast and makes straight edges,0.5,0,0
These work great also.

But you're pretty much stuck with the careful measuring and marking part! I use inexpensive digital calipers to measure ...

I run the lead of a pencil (not the tip) along the plank edge to which the next plank will butt. Then I lay down the new plank and press it against the penciled line where the new plank overlaps the previous plank. The lead will transfer to the new plank. There's your trim line.

Carbon paper also works but who has carbon paper anymore?
