dipole antenna?

well you asked for a dipole antenna like 2 years ago, it all depends on what freqs you have it set up to cover... however a dipole should be broad enough for this you just use Length (ft) = 468 / F (in mHz) so for 433 you get

L= 1.08 so 12 " but to be used as a dipole you feed it in the center at the six inch mark... cut and solder your pigtail on there, yes it's unbalanced to balanced... you could make a little groundplane type antenna to go ontop of it (same dimensions just google 70 cm ground plane for some pictures)

That being said you are better off with an ant that is gonna do something for you, I've tried and love MOXON RECTANGLES... do a search for a prog called moxgen.exe it's freeware and gives you just how to build one 6 to 9dbi in a perfect cardiod shape makes it even better cause then your only main lobe is straight out in front of you and you don't have to soak up all that pesky RF just keep like for like polarization so if you have a 1/2L whip in the plane horizontal oriented then keep the moxon horizontal, no need for baluns, reasonable match on 52-Ohm coax etc and it's very broad banded... I've used one cut for 146mHz to tx on 440 and the vswr is still acceptable, not to mention still has considerable gain... Good luck
