Got mine finished with the FY30. Going to do a Line of Sight maiden tomorrow and if all goes well i'll slap the DragonOSD and other FPV bits. I ended up getting the new upgraded canopy as i plan on flying with the Canopy on.

Any tips for a successful maiden?

Which motor did you go with?

Maiden for this should be easy, so dont over-think it....

Check CG..twice. Check all control surfaces are tight, slop free, and moving the right direction. Have a friend check all that stuff one more time if you can, as it is easy to get nervous and overlook something twice. Launch over tall grass or something soft if possible. Should be able to launch without power on this guy, then apply smooth increased throttle, (don't kick it in hard). Go ahead and put in plenty of expo too, as it cant hurt. I usually start with throws at ~20-50% greater than recommended, but with 40% expo.

Decided on the 3542 for my 5000mah 4s system.. Will post how it works out. The 3530 and 3536 seemed pushing in on specs for a 9" prop on 4s, so went with this 600w motor.

I was debating on using the 3536 NTM 1400kv motor but the motor adapter plate wouldnt screw on without modifying. Opted to try the stock motor.

Should i launch with stabilization on?

nope. its a pansy, the stab could be out of tune and run you into the ground.

Yes, agree, fly with the minimum stuff, the add/turn on as you get it tuned in regular flight.

Good point. I'll fly it in manual and enable stabilization up high just in case things get screwy.

I eyeballed 33%, the way Ive done on my last 6 planes sans the ZII (my first wing) if anything you can go a little nose heavy to be safe

"a nose heavy plane flies bad, a tail heavy one flies once"

So true. Learned that the hard way with my first plane.

Flew 3 packs today with 85, 80 and 75mm CG. I think 75 flies best. This was in moderate winds and stability was far better.
