1. You're American, stop supporting China and show some support for your own country's businesses and economy. Also putting money back into the developers of this board gives them more R&D cash to develop better products for you and I. Giving money to China just supports more theft of our ideas.
2. The 3DR version comes with a power module which works great to keep track of mAh burned as well as supplying required voltage to your board and peripherals.
3. Highly recommend the $50 upgrade to the Ublox LEA-6 GPS. This thing is by far the best GPS I've ever seen (I've see a lot). I live in a 3 story house and this gets lock in the middle of my basement.
+1
I run the 3DR version in my Penguin and so far it is bullet proof. I have the upgraded GPS and the MinimOSD which beats the he11 out of my EzOSD.

Routed or mounted? It's kinda hard to tell what we are looking at in this picture.

For anyone interested in seeing a bit on 3DRobotics (an American company!) there is quite a lot in this long magazine video about the dangers of drones!

Nope, as long as the ground element is down it conforms to mounting instructions given to us by DL. I did the same thing using the 36 inch antenna cable they provide. There is enough slack to pull the wing off the spare and lay it sideways to the body so it fits in my Honda without disconnecting from the Rx.

I'm running the Fy31AP and it is rock solid on the Penguin. The Penguin is a great stable platform and when in stabilized mode you plane pretty much flies itself.

I am on the light side for setups, no GoPro so I am hoping for 25min flights on average. I am trying to strike a balance between flight time and lighter weight for spirited performance at my altitude.
Im getting around 40 min flights with a zippy compact 5000 3s pack. This is with a fully loaded down Penguin with GoPro in case, FPV gear, etc.

You should be able to easily get more than 25 min.

I am just shocked that everyone else said she was so easy to fly...mine was hard to keep steady! if it had not been for the stabilize mode on my apm 2.5, I think i might have lost her...what say you all? I can post pics and auw when I get home
One of my battery setups is the exact same motor/ battery combo and the penguin flies great.

Do you have your CG setup right?

Will you be using a APC prop?

You can hook the throttle up to the FY31AP, but i chose to bypass the FY and run the throttle straight into the receiver. This allowed me to set my RX failsafe to 60% throttle so if I lose signal my plane goes into RTL and is set to 60% throttle.

Honestly this was my first autopilot and It is worth every penny. Especially when taking video in ABM (Stabilized Mode) the plane is literally flying on rails. ACM works great too.

Cheers,
