New mini summit owner.. any tips?

I just bought the brushed am radio one for 230$ or something I'm pretty excited cause its a bit more rugged off road compared to my old slash. Anyways.. do any of you have tips on things I need to do to it before I go and drive it?

why am i here???????
nothing really. as you break pargts replace them with rpm parts. after a while you will definatly want to go brushless. otherthan that just go out and drive the thing.

the mini summit really on climb like the bigger summit but if you get the vxl 380 system and run it on either 6 cell nimh or 2s lipo and somewhat geared down it will mud just fine and the 380 vxl system is a waterproof system. running it on 2s lipo will mud nicely.

Would a 2000mah 2s lipo help with speed and run time at all?

look at the batteries that traxxas has for their mini's. I have a 2s 2200 mah lipo from them in my merv and it runs about 20 min. the mini summit is geared a bit lower than the merv and slash the 2s 2200 mah should get you 20 to 25 min i 2would guess.

The brushed ESC can't handle 2s lipo.
I bought a pair of traxxas 2s2200 lipo to run in parallel for long run times and on the first or second wheelie the ESC smoked.
Also, the stock brushed ESC doesn't have lipo cutoff.

Go with the xl5 if you want to stick with brushed motor.

I prefer brushed or sensored brushless in a truck like this.
Good luck.

So if I were him I would buy an lvd xl5 so that he can run Lipo's n that esc will stay much cooler than the scaled down esc's would in that truck

Weirdly showed up today around 4:00 its relatively small compared to my slash. I put a lipo in I and it sure goes fast. I also ran it through my neighbours puddles. I don't think he liked it though, because it got really glitchy all of a sudden. He must have brought his frequency jammer out.
