OK guys Ive been threw this thread again.. Maxx can you please post a good picture or both the mounting's of the esc/rx and the battery. I cut mine and placed it like step 24 on the install manual. But id like more versatility in the placement. I also put on the EPP tail brace which limits my placement on the bottom but im thinking that i could remove it for the battery but not sure.. I am using the 600mah batts from RCPB.. Thanks.

Battery Placement

Here are some pictures of where I am placing my batteries including the 600mAh packs. Since I put the landing gear on I would prefer them at the top of the fuse for better balance, but I didn't want to cut another slot.

If you're cutting the new slot on the bottom perhaps you could save the EPP and glue it into the top hole?

How does the CG come out with the battery there?

Requesting guidance please.
First, thanks to all for the mega information.

I'm new to 3D and will be flying outdoors with no landing gear and winds up to maybe 7mph.
I know wind is critical and the lower the better.

I had my mind set on a TH 32" Edge for my first 3D plane.
But you guys have about sold me on a Slicko.

I like the sound of Floaty on 2s and think I want to go that route.
Is 2s wise for outdoor use?
All he has in stock are nano 360 2s. Is that too light for outdoors with some light winds?

So you see where I'm at in my thought process and need opinions on which brand and size plane and battery choices for my situation. Also prop selection.

One thing I want to try to avoid is carbon trussing. I would not need a carbon kit would I?

Ready to make a move and anxious to get your views.
Thanks!

I fly the Nano-Tec 460 2 cell batteries, and I do all of my flying outside. Both of my planes have the older 1900KV motor, but will be flying the new motor that is part of the current power combo in a few days, also with same batteries, and the 8 x 4.3 black slow fly prop. Carbon option is not required, but I really like how ridgid the wing becomes with it. The carbon wing rods are fiddly to install, but I covered that well with a new process that I tried for the first time on the current build, and it went smoothly...you just have to take your time.
This thread has become quite large and some of the info can be hard to find, that is why I reference my previous posts at the start of the current post. I would like to try making the plane with the battery on the CG, and placing the servos and other pieces to make it balance, then you could use a choice of batteries.

Hey, I have mine set up on 2s and I fly outdoors all the time, and I have the landing gear a d it is still very floaty, I can fly it in my small backyard, maybe I'll get a little video to show you how it is on 2s outdoors in my back yard, you won't see any fancy stuff but it will show you how it can slow down.

I'm swimming in EPP scraps I didn't want to confuse the build with extra EPP in the bag, but it sounds like it would be a good idea.
