BTW, if the guy in the right is the famous "Mr. Wood" as in "made by Wood," does that make the guy sitting next to him waiting for Wood?

In the thread I saw, the guy broke his wing just from a jolt from the towline whilst on tow

Once reinforced the fuse is fine and once the wings are sorted out they will also be fine......at the end of the day, sure it needs a bit of work to get it up to spec but it's $1200...... not $6200 for a 6 meter 40% airframe.

K8

Well, add mine to the list of wing failures. Just got off the tow due to gusty winds @ about 1000 ft. Banked over a bit to go with the wind & the left wing folded @ the same spot as the others. That was the 7th tow on 3 different days. It probably began to fail on previous flights. I did uncover a portion of the wings to address the lack of adhesive & epoxied all intersections up to the spoiler bay. So I believe it was the lack of strength of the structure that is the major failure factor. Naturally the plane pretty much totaled itself. The other wing flew off & fluttered down unscathed as well as the rudder assy. I really like the way it flies & will have to have another if they address the wing structure problem.

Not 40% but a KA–7 less then 6 meters with a $3475 price tag.....
http://www.icare-rc.com/ka7.htm

A 1/3.5 Reiher at $3769 also less then 6 meters...
http://www.icare-rc.com/dfs_reiher.htm

Vintage airframes are not very well represented in what's available commercial wise.....white wings up the ying-yang......but vintage not so much at any price point....much less $1200 for a 6 meter plane.

On the german forum a few pictures of a K8 wing from the latest batch with aparently the newest reinforcements has been presented.
http://www.rc-network.de/forum/showt...er-K-8b/page90 ,
#1346

From what can be seen on the pictures a 10 mm solid carbon rod has been added over a length of five ribs, starting one rib further out where the second aluminium joiner ends. There is a one rib overlap with the two carbon joiners For me it is clear that this is not a significant improvement. If anything substantial is added to the wing under the planked front part is not known (yet).

I saw that.....if that is the way they plan to "fix" the problem.......no thanks. I'll take a new set of wings if they offer but will do my own rebuild as per AllanK's modification with the 1" carbon tube as detailed in this thread.....
