Nothing in the article (or title) says that. He's claiming to have kickstarted the boom, not invented anything.

Judging by the comments, that claim might be debatable too though.

I quote from the article:

Every industry has its garage-creation myth. Here’s mine, on the start of the personal-drone movement.

That's still talking about the 'movement' or 'boom', rather than actually saying he'd invented the concept or the first hardware.

He claims to have started 2007, that is alittle late to be claiming anything.

From the history of MikroKopter:

Quote:
On 24.10.2006 Holger Buss and Ingo Busker brought MK to life with a great community of Mikrokopter pilots. Only 6 months later, the Mikrokopter hovered steadily, like an "airnail" and flew agile through the air like a bird.

If there was such thing as precursors of the Multicopter boom was projects like the KKcopter and later the ones based in the Wii sensors.

Before that there was other projects that is true, but had few people mostly due to the high costs involved. It was new projects relying in easier to find and specially cheaper gear that generated the boom and that still drive it.

They don't say that.
The first multirotor has been 1907 Breguet's Gyroplane, 105 years ago.

He wrote, he "Accidentally" started a boom. So it's not his fault.

Chris is good at organizing, promoting and kicking off projects - that's for sure.
But a bit more humility in the face of history of Multirotors and especially "domestic drones" would be helpful.

Respect before the ancestors is the least you can show if you claim what Chris Anderson claims.
