The maintence guy at the brewery has a 30's era Newport trunck cabin commuter. The hull is the same as the vineyard.

When his boat was first built... keep in mine, I'm talking about 1:1 prototype type of boat here it was nothing but the hull, and a 12cyl liberty airplane engine. It was a personal "fishing boat" of one of the Rockefeller's even though the boats manifest never mentions any of them ever setting foot on the boat, but showed weekly late night fishing trips.

lets just say that Jay named the boat the "Do run rum" for a reason.

after the nations.... noble experiment was over, the Aircraft engine was replaced with a regular marine diesel and it was out fitted with a trunk cabin in the Vineyard style and sold off as a small commuter yacht

he takes it out most every sunday here on the James River. His last trip of the season he had a bit of trouble with her when a channel marker jumped out in front of him unexpectedly. put a nasty hole in the bow. not sure if he managed to keep from spilling his beer or not..

He beached her, and duct taped a tarp over the hole and had her towed in the next day and dry docked over the winter to repair the hole.

the repairs were successful and invisible. she may be on the market soon.

here is a picture of her under way.. I've been thinking of modeling it myself and I think I may have the same set of plans you have to do so. so I also have some pictures of her at dock I'll try to dig up for you. for a prototype refrence

Thought I would just post the only known real life picture of the exact real boat in question as well as some links to more Vinyard info.
