Maiden!

Sorry, camera was set too high on my head.

I got the windometer out once I had landed and peak reading was only 13.6mph over a 2min period!!! I'm not fibbing

Great fun seeing how fast you can go in such little wind

What would you bring over for december if you were me Alex?
I should be able to get back into building again pretty soon, with a big hot box on the way (made of expol under floor foam- cheap!) and this week is operation draft proof shed- so its worth turning on my heater.
I WILL get around to making a scorcher for you Alex, I want to try 800gsm quadraxial fibreglass. I think 250- 300 is possible with a mostly glass wing. It will be fast/heavy/cheap!

MAN! I have spent 3 months trying to find some corian to CNC my mold out of. Can only find little bits of 12mm offcuts, and the places I go to won't sell bigger portions to the public!!!

There are alot of other alternatives.
most companies that make their own epoxies do an epoxy board.
there are normally 1.5m x 1m x 50mm.
The stuff we get here is used allot in the F1 industry. They quote about 6 pulls using 150 in an autoclave. You are not going to be going that hot, or that high pressure so you should get allot more.
I view them has a mould to get 10 out. But that time you should know if the design is working and you can layup propper moulds with heating and vacume in the mould.

Then there are alternative ways that may take more time but cost less.
Some people use woods. cut the wood undersize, then add a layer of good quality glass and even better gell coat. But depending on how thick this layer is it may pull away after a couple of pulls.

The Muts nuts would be using Aluminium. As long as you not looking at going too got this works well but is very expensive.

Give you mate Andrew a call and see if he will send you something from Oz. (Do the kiwis and wallabies collaborate?) I know you 2 do.

Also go spend some time in the composite section. People show complete scratch builds from foam to moulds to model. or wood to moulds to model.

I just need someone that knows plastic to tell me a Plastic that is good and hard, good to machine, will polish up, and is AVAILABLE!

Going into a plastics place tomorrow to ask.

Then will compare price to Aluminium

Good luck Alex,

many years back I sold touch screen computers and remember getting the first screens using my dad business name.

Only wanted 4 screens at the time but the company would not sell direct to the public or the school they were for. I told them my dad run his own business and I could provide the relevant info (after discussing it at home) and later registered my own business and sold them for about 5 years.

It may be as simple as getting a mate to purchase them for you and suppling a few beers as a thank you.

I am never sure why people consider composites plastics. or certain resins plastics. Maybe I just dont understand the correct definition. To me plastics are injectable, like pp abs etc etc.

See if places like axson http://www.axson.com/en/Contacts

when dealing with the lads for the corian, have they said why they wont sell to you. I like the Idea of finding another business to buy for you.
I never understand why people dont try explore all the possible markets.

War head dude might add, but I think he gets off cuts and laminates himself.

Yes your right will. Off cuts.
Every kitchen building place will have a bin full of it. It's amazing what you can get for a carton of beer.

Alex.
If you wing does not have dihedral ? Like the burner.. You can use 12mm xpoxed together. Give you the strength you need and you won't machine into the other layer.
