Sad part is, there are some people who will think that is real..... and that those evil rich guys are out to take advantage of the poor and middle class again.....

On a (perhaps) more realistic note, I saw an episode of House Hunters a while back that featured a family whose breadwinner had lost his job as an executive something or other. These poor folks had to sell their 700k home and downsize to something in the 350-400k range. Hard to feel too terribly sorry for folks like that....

Sounds almost like a spoof of an Obama Fund Raising effort.

Leans more toward impossible to me. We are promised three things in life, food, clothing, and a place to sleep. Beyond that, everything else is just gravy on a great meal. This philosophy has a lot to do with my attitude toward life, taxation, and charity.

Just who, pray tell, promises these things to us?

When my son in law was unemployed, my grandson was somewhat concerned. It turned out that six or seven other kids in his class had unemployed dads, mostly executives. I think that made him feel better about it, as he was not the only one. At least my daughter was still working, although part time because of grandson. She did increase her hours, but has refused to go full time. They had savings because they both always worked and saved her salary and lived on his. Son in law was unemployed for 14 months but is now working at an appropriate job for a Swiss company. He was last in, first out, at the Japanese company where he worked previously.

From the Apostle Paul under inspiration.....
But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that

From Matthew....
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

The Apostle Paul writing to Timothy......

People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Christ is not forcing anybody down here to help anybody else. If you only want to help yourself and not others, then your question becomes "Am I my brother's keeper?"
Socialism would force people to help each other. Christ prefers that the attitude of helping others comes from within.

Much higher up the food chain than political or governmental structure. But there is also an admonition by David:

Quote:
Psalm 37:25
I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
Along with this, work is a blessing and we should look unto God and ourselves for our needs and not others unless we are incapable or unable to fend for ourselves.

It can't come from within, if it comes from Christ.

You can't have it both ways.... Or make stuff up.

If it's a promise from God as you say, then how can you reconcile that there are starving, homeless and naked people in the world today?

Further, if God does not break his promises, you must be interpreting it incorrectly.

Good point Lyle and it reminded me of this verse also....from Matthew

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow...."
