I may put a scorpion motor in the front and a better prop:

I hope it fits. but I cannot find any tech drawings of the nose.

that is a 28mm dia motor. prob means that the 30mm scorpion will not fit.

Esprit Models recommends Hacker A20 22L which is a much lighter motor than the Scorpion one mentioned. I have one in another plane--I may pull it out to try in my Calypso. Even if the Scorpion fits, I would be concerned about the added nose weight.

The only "special" thing included in their flap kit is the pair of plastic shrouds. Those should be easy enough to replicate, one way or another. I am very glad I installed the flaps. Big difference in short-field landing.

Yes you are right. The Scorpion motor I mentioned is simply put not the right motor for this plane. I will put an Scorpion ESC I have on hand and run the stock motor to its limit. And plan to upgrade to Hacker or other motor if the stock motor does not fit the bill.
I'm seeing this plane being used in sport ALES competitions... can't wait to take it to the field.

Or precision landing... I wonder if I can compensate the lack of flaps by mixing flaperons there. I'm trying to get the linkages from my LHS... it seems wrong to order 3.00 worth of parts and pay 10.00 worth of shipping from the internet.

Your LHS should be able to order them for you without the shipping expense. For wiw there are no shrouds for the servo since it stands upright.

Yes, you're right. After your post, I actually looked at the plane (duh!) and saw that there is nothing special at all in the "flap kit." Sorry.

that is good news to me.
When I get the plane tomorrow. I'll take it to my LHS and tell the nice man that runs it to give me what I need to get it to work.

Hopefully my Futaba 3015 Servos will be ok:

ESPRIT models recommends:

I prefer Futaba on all my radio stuff.

I just replaced a wing servo that came with the Calypso with the Hitec servo mentioned. I found it is a drop-in replacement with equivalent weight and performance.

The Futaba servo you mention weighs 2x the Hitec and is a bit larger than the recommended servo. You will need to cut some foam to make it fit.

Just occurred to me, the servos included in the kit should plug into a futaba RX without adaptors right?

If I get the hitec servo I need a special extension I think?
