Question

Smoke system

I have a sullvin skywriter and was wondering about the way you run the lines.understand where they go but should you use a vent line or not.some say no because of priming it.if you do use 3 lines one for vent 1 for filling and 1 to smokepump. but if you run one from pump to tank and can you use a t fitting for vent and filling.by pluging vent off while you fill then uncap after for vent ? which is best way.

If you plug a vent, while filling, there's no place for pressure to escape,as the fuel is introduced.Using three lines is best and most-trouble free.Install two "pickup" tubes -one for filling/draining,one for pump pickup.leave the vent alone to do just that.....vent.

I was using a 2 line system with a du-bro style gas fuel filler in the line to the smoke pump.

That way the plumbing is a peice of cake. one line is the vent, and the other is for the pump, but is also the fill line, but will shut off oil going to the pump while it's being filled.

Don't forget to run neoprene near the exhaust (tygon cant stand the heat) and put a non return valve in there so the muffler doesn't blow all the oil back into the tank and you lose your prime.
