It's the bogan in you coming out that prevents it being more obvious

Ever tried one of those multi-layer photo-thingys on a 'bo?

Multi layer? as in HDR? if so no, mainly because I am never there when they are! And the purpose of HDR is to extract more dynamic range in the pics than the camera can do in one exposure. Most rainbows are fairly within the range of cameras. However if you had a shot that had a rainbow and an area of dark shadow that one image would not be able to capture the full range, then I would try it. Photo 1 and 2 are HDR. The first one purely to pull some more out of the sky and not make the foreground all dark, it isn't exactly what I was after, but you get that sometimes. The second one was essential to get the sky and the two uglys at the correct exposure.

I didn't get a rainbow shot on Saturday afternnon, but here are a few of the ones I did get. No close up flying pics as they were all "treat 'em like bitches" foamies, so concentrated on some different angles this time.

Andrew and woodsy down on the bottom hill.

Meet Woodsy and Rick. They are slope soarers so I can't show you their faces......that and they are ugly

d'ses into the sun with no shades for fun whilst standing in thistles barefoot, tore that mo right off choppers face, and can swim faster than a dugong .......don't mess with this bloke

no shortage of lift. Woodsy launching Ricks wing. I assume the ribbon is for yaw stability

I was thinking of a close rainbow in front of a dark cloud background, so sounds like it might work.

Remind me to steer clear of Andrew

Keep up the good work, it's nice to see great photos of other parts of the country

black backgrounds as in dark clouds are excellent for that sort of shot because the colour of the rainbow will punch right out, and black is easy for a camera, so you shouldn't need to HDR it. If there is a mass of white and black clouds I.E Cumulonimbus thunderstorm you could try it though to get more definition in the clouds. It is tricky though, and does add a lot of noise to the image if you are not careful. But it certainly won't hurt to try, simply take 3 shots exactly the same, just go 1 or 2 stops either side of your normal exposure.

I love taking shots of bright coloured planes when there is a black or very dark cloud to create a plain dark background. The colour just jumps right out at you.

btw, here is a link to some of my shots I have done at wybung over the last couple of years. Not too many in there as I don't get out there very often anymore. May as well post it here, given it's a wybung thread.

Ok So I have bee talking to Adam.
I just bought some of the last of the slope monkeys. 6.

He is prepared to do some Stingers for me. Less the tail boom.

I'd do 5 Stinger 45v2 without the tail boom section for $185 (full kits) each.
Builders kits would be $135 and short kits would be $90.
The hardware kit for these kits would be the standard $10 for each kit.

Plus Postage.

This will be a one off deal.
So if you are serious about wanting a Stinger 45 this is your last chance.

Pm Me or ring me.

Nice photos of the rainbows, they always look better in person though.
It was good flying at Wybung on Sunday between the rain. I didn't get a chance to DS there, but I just became a member so I'll be back to have a crack another time.
I'm looking forward to putting some more faces to names too.
