Standoffs a little too short

I've got a DA 50 I'm mounting in a Sbach that previously had a DLE 55 in it and I've found that the standoffs for the DA a re just a smidge too short. The back of the spinner is going to rub the cowl on one side. So I was thinking about adding washers to add about 1/8" to the standoff length. I was planning on adding them to all four standoffs at the firewall to preserve any thrust angles it needs.

Does this sound like a good plan?

I've done it. Should work.

The only concern is how many threads you'll have in the standoff, after the washers are added......Be careful that at least 1/4-5/16" of bolt goes into the stand off,and not just a couple of threads.....If that checks out, you're fine.

An old tool and die man told me one time that 1.5 X Diameter of the bolt/screw is the minimum amount of thread you should use.

I think he was talking about steel and cast iron. IMO, 2 bolt diameters in aluminum should be safe enough. I believe this should be obtainable in most situations.

I tried it out last week and it flew great with two washers under each standoff. I'm going to get some longer bolts for it just for that extra margin of safety, but I'm pretty sure I've got 2 bolt diameters in the standoffs now, maybe more. I had a DLE 30cc almost fall out of the cowl not long ago, so I'm pretty anxious about that now.

Thanks for the tip!
