Askman's Shrimp Y6 Frame + Nex-5n Gimbal Build (prototype frame)

So I have this new little Y6 frame sitting here that needs to be built

The frame is Askman's new seafood themed Y6 and since it is the smaller one it is called the shrimp. Dont let its size fool you thought, this little guy will be carrying a Sony Nex-5n on a 2 axis gimbal running some decent sized gear

Equipment:
Flight Controller: HoverFly Pro Black Board
ESCs: DYS 30a SimonK Flashed from Quadroufo.com
Motors: SunnySky 2216 800kv x6 from FoxtechFPV.com
Props: GemFan CF Mix 9x4.7s from GotHeliRC.com
Rx: AR8000 + TM1000 Spektrum Gear
Batteries: Turnigy and Sky Lipo 4s4000mah 30c packs.

looking forward to this build. That HFpro board is so easy to tune, the gimbal controls are great, the OSD is perfect for FPV and I already own it

this is preproduction beta frame, just to let everyone know. so, things still may change a bit. before final production model.

Wow, it looks like you will get yours going before I can get to mine. I have virtually the same setup, except that I will use a Naza+GPS instead of the HFP, but the motors and ESCs are the same. Initially, I will use 10x5 Graupners, but I want to try some of the 9x5 and 9x4 Zinger wood props.

Can't wait to see the final product and some videos!

One question though. Why the 30A ESC's. Couldn't you use 20A SK flashed esc's just as easily? The reason I'm asking is that I'm contemplating a similar build (Y6, same motors, props, battery) and was planning to use 20A esc's and the 100A Eagle Tree data logger. Do you think your Shrimp will pull more than 100 amps?

there is no weight saving between 20a and 30a esc. a price difference is minimal. so no reason to use 20amp. in general though, 20 amp esc will be more than enough. just prudence .

quite honestly.... i bought like 14 30a DYS flashed ESCs from Ken at QuadroUFO.com and they might be a little over spec'ed but that way i dont have to worry

okay, so this is slow building....(thank goodness askman prebuilt the center plates.)

got the motors mounted and the mounts on the booms.....

you don't have to push the boom all the way into the end of the motor mount. it is more than strong enough just clamped on to the motor. unless you want is slightly smaller sized.

you need to tighten the LG tube before tightening the booms . (are you going to make it fold or not?)

yeah i took out the back standoffs and screws on the front booms... (center plates) and used the middle back screw to make it fold... ill snap a detailed pic of that soon.

Not sure what you mean with the LG tube, but im sure ill see it when i get there

fairly easy to put together.

i think im keeping it a small shimp so it will fit in the pelican 1610 case that my RC-Carbon fits in when it is folded up.
