Dynam F4U Corsair

Welcome to the Dynam F4U Corsair thread! This thread is for the discussion of all things pertaining to this plane and related topics. Please check out the notes and links below for further guidance.

Commonly Asked Questions

1.) How do I hook up the LED lights?
Answer - The supplied LED lights are disappointingly dim. It is recommended to replace the LED's with aftermarket ones either hook them up with required resistors to a power source or better yet, to get an aftermarket lighting kit.

2.) What size of battery can I fit in this plane? Answer - Although the recommended 2200mah battery is fine, consensus is that a 3000 to 3300mah 4s battery is a good balance between flight time and weight. 4000mah is the maximum reported.

3.) Why aren't my retracts working? Answer - these retracts can sometimes hang due to the pins jamming when trying to rotate. A fix is linked below for this. Another common issue is that the retracts don't like the cold weather. When the temps drop below 40-45 degrees F, they start to stop working.

4.) Are there any weak links with this plane? Answer - the foam hinges on the rudder and elevator are susceptible to coming off over time. Keep an eye on them and the other control surfaces and either repair them with hinge tape or CA type/nylon hinges.

5.) Why does my motor stutter at low RPM? Answer - this is a common issue with all Dynam ESC's operating on 4s battery setups. It doesn't hurt the performance but is a little annoying. Some radio systems handle it better than others. Newer planes come with a signal booster to help alleviate the issue, but the the jury is still out on this fix. Usually, the stutter can be eliminated by resetting or recalibrating the ESC. MotionRC has a good YT video on how to do this. Other brand ESC's also fix the issue.

6.) What is the supplied glue and should I use it? Answer - the supplied bigger white tubes are rubber cement and the smaller tube is canopy glue. You can use them as required in the directions, but you can also use epoxy, gorilla glue, etc to ensure more holding power.

Here are some more pics...

Looks to be inline with their other recent warbird offerings, so specs I am sure are very similar.

I have read on the FW-190 thread that those hold up pretty well compared to some of the earlier products such as the T-28. This plane has the 90 degree rotating retracts, so they would really need to be strong to handle any abuse.

Looks really good. Would be nice to see flaps w/ it, but nontheless a awesome looking bird. I know the T28 and Spit fly like a dream, so I'm eager to read the reports on this.

If you look at the picture above where it shows the bottom of the plane, it does have the servo plugs for the flaps. And there are a couple holes for the control horn where the flap would be. But what is odd is that it looks to be one big aileron, unless you cut the flap and install the hardware to make it an aileron and a flap. Nonetheless, it would only be half of the flap because the real plane has a flap piece on the other side of the bend of the wing next to the fuselage. It doesn't show any cut lines or hinge indentations, but wouldn't be too difficult to add.

I'm on my cell, so the pic are rather tiny lol. I bet the price point is right on line with the other Dynam models. I would imagine something around 1200mm WS?!? I didn't see it in the specs. Once again on my cell, I could have missed something.

Sounds like you need to upgrade your phone Yeah, I would bet money on the the 1200mm WS. I am sure they will release the specs soon.

I like Dynam for a couple reasons. They provide a great value for the money. The markings come on a sheet and are not applied. The ESC, motor and servo's are good.

This F4U is begging for a repaint!
