Some nice large-scale navy models..PICS

These ship models can be found in a most unusual place.....
The Southern Museum of Flight, adjacent to the Birmingham, AL airport.

They are large scale, detailed models of ships with an Alabama connection.

The smallest one is the old USS Birmingham, from which Eugene Ely made the first flight from a warship.

The expert modelmaker is Mr. Norman Ponder, who is still amongst us at age 90.

Please excuse the photo quality..... Lighting was poor, and I used a not-so-smart phone. If you are ever in the area, the Museum is well worth a visit.

Its a very nice museum even though it's small.
